COASTAL RUN: JCR S/T HITS ANGLESEY
We're no strangers to the odd track day at Anglesey Circuit, having hosted our very own JCR event here just a few years ago. We try to make it over at least once a year, so we made sure to book straight on when RMA Track Days released their June 2025 date.
The thing about Anglesey is that, thanks to its coastal location in North Wales, the weather is notoriously unpredictable. It’s either torrential rain or blazing sunshine with very little in between. We just so happened to have what can only be described as a perfect day when it came to the weather. Light breeze, mid 20c and glorious sunshine, all day long!
The combination of a technically demanding circuit and a highly capable, lightweight sports car made for a focused and rewarding day on track.
The Venue: Anglesey Circuit
Anglesey Circuit, also known as Trac Môn, is located on the island’s western coastline and is known for its unique setting and variety of configurations. For this track day, we ran the Coastal Circuit layout, a 1.55 mile loop featuring fast sweepers, tight technical sections, and significant elevation changes. Surface conditions were dry and warm throughout the day, ideal for consistent lap times and managing tyre performance.
The Car: Porsche 992 S/T
The 911 S/T is a limited-production model based on the 992 platform. It shares its 4.0 litre naturally aspirated flat-six engine with the 992 GT3 RS, delivering 518 bhp at 8,500 rpm. Unlike the PDK equipped GT3 RS, the S/T comes exclusively with a 6 speed manual gearbox and a super light weight flywheel and clutch assembly.
Several lightweight components distinguish it from other 992 variants, including a magnesium roof, carbon-fibre doors and bonnet, and reduced sound insulation. These changes result in a kerb weight of around 1,380 kg, giving the S/T a slightly sharper edge in terms of handling and driver feedback.
Our JCR upgrades accentuate that light weight ethos, further reducing the weight of the car by over 25kg thanks to our Inconel / Titanium Superlight Race Pipe and various Carbon Fibre components. Our ultimate goal is to get the JCR S/T below 1300kg.
On Track Performance
The ST’s behaviour on track was predictable and composed. The turn in was sharp, and the mid corner balance was neutral with minimal understeer. The lack of rear wheel steering (unlike the GT3) made the car feel slightly more straightforward to place on corner entry, especially in the slower technical sections such as Rocket and the Corkscrew.
Braking performance remained consistent over multiple sessions thanks to the Surface Transforms Brake Kit and Pagis RSC1 pads. One of the first jobs that we complete on any of our builds is removing the factory PCCB discs and replacing them with Surface Transforms parts.
The straight line performance of the JCR S/T is particularly impressive. Thanks to light weight, plenty of power and low drag, we've found this particular car to be the fastest N/A only Porsche of recent years, mid to low 6's 100-200kph with ease which translates to taking car lengths out of 992 GT3 RS' on the straight sections of a circuit.
Summary
The Porsche S/T has yet again proven to be a highly capable and engaging car for circuit use, despite being marketed as a car that's focused for road use only.
It's combination of light weight, manual gearbox, and N/A engine set it apart from other 911 models, particularly in a track environment where driver input is key. Anglesey Circuit provided a fitting test for the car, with its mix of technical and high speed sections highlighting the S/T’s balance, braking capability, and power delivery.
Overall, a productive highly productive day with a car that delivers impressive performance, enhanced further by JCR parts which help to optimise its on-track potential.
We can't wait to get back out on track at the end of July with the JCR S/T when we will be debuting some of our latest Aero modifications!
